I have a 20" cube that will have a closed loop. I'm trying to decide between an Eheim 1262 and an Iwaki 1245. (900 gph v. 1200 gph).

I had an Eheim 1262 with a good experience in the past, but am worried that there will not be enough flow given that I will have to have it separately flow (T-valve? Sorry, I'm not good with the plumbing terms) through the chiller / in-line heater.

Does anyone have experience with the Iwaki pump? Are they very noisy (I was really impressed with how quiet the Eheim was).

Thanks.

I have an Iwaki MD-30RLXT in my 75g + 29g = 104 gallon system. It produces 960 gph against 4 feet of head. This is too much flow because my water level is at the top of the overflow grating. I also wish that it was quieter. I am considering replacing it with the smaller Iwaki MD-20RLXT pump.

I believe that the "1245" pump that you are considering is actually a US-made Iwaki WMD-40RLXT which is even larger.

I have a small but very quiet Eheim 1046 pump (79gph) but I've no experience with an Eheim 1262.

Yes -- sorry I didn't mention it. It is the US Iwaki that I'm referencing. Thanks for the information.
