Can anyone recommend a brand of "meaty" pellets that I can drop onto my sandbed for my diamond goby? He already grabs mysis from the water column, but I'd like to try supplementing that to ensure the fish gets variety and doesn't eventually starve. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone that has had success with this, or can just recommend a good brand. Thanks

Sorry to join in on your question but if anyone could answer the same question for a watchman goby I would appreciate it.

New Life Spectrum, hold a pinch underwater for a few seconds and let it sink to goby.
All my fish love these (except maybe my Cherub angel).

Thanks for the tip, wrott! Hard to tell from the picture, but the pellets seem to be pretty small. I'm hoping that if the goby doesn't learn to recognize them as food when they are dropped in, he'll at least get the benefit when he sifts them out of the sand.

Yes, I have every size they sell (3 sizes I believe). The largest is too big for any fish I have except my foxface.
The 1mm is acually a good size for fish 2-5". And the Grow is smaller but fish love to pick it out of the water column.
These are great as well for all fish.http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+7927+15535&pcatid=15535
And these are larger but good for big clowns and larger fish

Wow, a lot of good foods out there! Thanks for pointing those out.

I have a good bit of flow in the tank, so I need to pick pellets that will sink more readily. That way I can sort of target feed the goby.

If you can't find NLS pellets, also try Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 pellets. Almost all of my fish eat them. My two YWG love them, as well as the damsels, cardinals, rabbitfish, and even my triggerfish oddly enough. All my shrimp go nuts for them too.

New Life Spectrum would be my first choice (they have a special pellet for finicky eaters), Ocean Nutrition would be next. Overall variety is best.

Great! I feel like the fish are robbing my pair of coral banded shrimp lately!

Thanks LobsterOfJustice! I think I'm gonna order some NLS.

I use formula 1&2 pellets in my auto feeder. After the frezy ends, the ODG calmly goes and sifts the sand right under the auto feeder.

I always worry about my Goby getting enough to eat. My crazy Clown zips all over the tank grabbing all the food. I've tried to train the Goby to go to the back of the tank (which he does sometimes).

Great, Pmolan! Those are the results I am hoping to emulate.

Yeah, my goby definitely isn't as aggressive about grabbing food- nor as accurate - but he seems to be getting better. He seems to miss a lot! :D He does manage to grab about 10-12 bits of mysis at a feeding - unfortunately, I have to put a lot of food in for that to happen.

I don't understand why so many retailers list a diamond goby as EASY care. One has to worry about starvation, sandstorms, rock tumbles, jumping, etc. :)
