I used mineral mud with 3 inch mineral mud base and 2 inch gravel with great results. Im sure it would be fine if your not useing for an exsiting problem. This alone will not solve a problem , its only a tool to help control the total system in whole.

Its the best for what---I would think it would be great if you wanted a great variety of copopods and inverts that live in it
if it is for growing mangroves ---they will grow in argonite just as well
Lance what kind of results were you refering to?

Great cheato growth and my readings stay low or nill. But i used mineral mud not miracle mud. Also in my fuge not my sump. Plus great pod growth. What more do you want.Worked for me.

Yes I take it back it was a mineral mud by ecosystemsaquarium.com that the LFS said was wonderful...
and "for what" is, for the substrate in my refugium
that is going to be the middle compartment of my
sump... Because I have VERY limited space in which to have
a sump and a refugium...
I wish I had the basement set up that you do... Alas, I do not...
FYI... I have a 50 gallon and I plan to have No SPS or LPS and I don't plan to have a mandarin... I do plan to have shrooms, leathers and zoanthids....
I was told that the mineral mud would leach helpful minerals into the system naturally and slowly, blah blah blah...
What do you think?
and thanks for your input thus far! :)

its good for producing a variety of inverts that live in it but it is controversial for the minerals it adds to the system in comparison to weekly or every two week water changes it is kind of pricy and once the minerals have leached into the system what do you do then?
Put another way---there is no dispute that regular water changes renew trace elements and minerals back into your tank.

Ohhhhh gotcha... I wasn't trying to get out of doing my water changes LOL! :)
Just thought if this stuff was really great I'd use it for my substrate but if it's not worth the money honey then I'll just do the DSB I was planning..........
