12" was the largest one I ever saw in person, but I think I heard a story of some larger ones online a few years ago.

When I first started out 5 years ago or so I had 2-12" bristleworms. I used to feed them a cube of prime reef each night. They would come out a do laps around the tank. Scary.

garrett.

Edit: is this in the wrong forum?

Moved to New to the Hobby for more views.

I think the largest in my tanks is at least 12" long. There was still more worm in the rock. :)

I've got some that are more than 1cm in diameter, but they never extend more than 6" of their bodies out of the LR.

Although I have only seen one that was not even 12in.,this site says that then can grow to 20in long.

That's a funny site. I especially enjoyed reading that the common name is "acropora crab"

The large species of amphimonids/fireworms do get longer than 20" but reefers tend to yank them out before reaching that size. A few other polychaetes - also known as bristleworms but in family Eunicidae - are reported to get up to about 15 feet long & 1 inch wide; some Antarctic scaleworms are about the size of a flattened football.

I have one in my 120 that is in the 18 inch range. Quite thick too. He lives in a large piece of rock and will show himself when I feed the tank meaty foods but not more than a few inches. I will give it a piece of krill or silverside a couple times a week. Pretty neat.
