I just added 2 koralia #3's in my 120 and as I thought things are going through an adjustment, has anyone seen this period last more that a day or 2 including the fish? also aside from water quality will this added flow do anything to keep hair and other alge from growing as easy. thanks

all tanks before had minimal flow but were fowlr tanks or softies

Algae growth is directly related to water quality. If the added flow gets more organic matter swept up into your filter and skimmer, that should reduce the food supply for the algae, and therefore slow or prevent its growth.

thanks thats what i was thinking, I started seeing lots of stuff circulating in the water as soon as i turned them on. Is that flow a good amount for a 120, my sump pump puts about 5-600 gph back into the tank also besides the 2 #3's

You would have better off with 2 #4's but you should be ok with the 3's.

It's not just a matter of total flow, but also where that flow is directed. On my 75, I have about 2600 GPH of total flow, and I still have some dead spots that I occasionally have to clean out. If placed well, I bet you could get pretty good coverage with one or two more powerheads--or by using some pvc to strategically direct the flow from your return.

I have them aimed slightly up and approx 45 degrees toward front glass from opposite ends. Looks like good flow to me and hopefully the corals will adjust fairly quick to the new flow.
