This weekend I culled some Xenia from my tank. In the process of course they released some stuff into the water. Ever since then my colony of green star polyps has not reopened. All the other coral is fine, mushrooms, monticap, other xenia. How can I tell if the polyps are dead? Would the Xenia be enough to affect them?

They will be just fine.

Soon, you'll be wishing you could kill your green star polyps :-)

Anytime mine get disturbed by moving or a major change in the tank, they go in and stay in for a couple of days. I wouldn't worry much, they are pretty tough.

Since you guys are talking about star polyps.....Mine stay open all night long, and close (or go in a little bit) when the lights come on. Why would this be? I always have had them go in a night and come out during the lighting period, like everything else.
