I need to get some replacement filters. I am currently running a 5 micron sediment and 2 types of carbon block. I am in the S. Indiana area so not sure about if a chloramine filter set is needed. I have been using these filters for about 3 years. I have been changing of them of course but I bought them by the case so I have not had to order in awhile.

I am using a 75 gpd filmtec membrane and I know the incoming TDS is around 250. I am also about to add a water softener when I can get a plumber out here :)

Not sure if any of that matters but though I would throw it in.

What would you recommend?

Southern Indiana - the cave/karst and limestone capital of the world!

A couple of questions for you:
Are you on well water or city water?

If city water, please call your local water company and ask if they use chlorine, or chloramine for a disinfectant. We'll recommend a different filter array based upon the answer.

I am on city water and according to them they use a chlorine tablet.

Thanks

Watch it BUD!!!! I'll get Bobby Knight to come over and whip up on some Bearcats.

You know what, I've never asked my water dept if they use chlorine, or chloramine for a disinfectant.

Russ, do you know what the city of Evansville puts in there water?

Evansville is down the river from Louisville so it better be some strong stuff :)

I actually grew up in Evansville. Waters of the World is a nice place too.

Based on the most current info posted on the internet, the 2006 report, The Evansville Water Utility uses chloramines.

Hey - don't feel bad. We're downstream from all those Steelers fans!

Assuming you don't have any particular issue with heavy sediment loads, I'd go with a 1 micron sediment filter followed by a 0.6 micron chlorine guzzler carbon block. You don't need a second carbon block.

Hmmmm..

Ok Russ, what do you recommend for EVV water?

My current filters.

1 micron sediment filter, 5 micron CTO/2 cartridge, 0.6 micron chlorine guzzler, and then the 75gpd membrane, into the DI filters.

I've never tested for chloramines, ( dont even know how), but my corals have been doing great. Growing 2 to 5 x what they used to be 3 years ago and all open. The only problems I have right now is fighting ICK & cayo outbreaks.

Sorry to hijack your thread ellisz

Looks like Bobby's going to have some time on his hands with nothing to do. Hard to believe he'll ever be able to really retire.
