Hi,
placed an order for my first aquarium, which has a 260 litre/ 57 uk gallon display tank and a 100 litre/ 23 uk gallon sump. there is an overflow compartment in one corner of the display containing the dusro drain and the return. The guy who is doing the drilling said the drain pipe should be 2 inch and the return pipe should be 1 inch, could anyone confirm these pipe sizes are adequate?
Also could anyone recommend a good return pump or at least a flow rate for this system?
Thanks.

As far as the size holes needed for the plumbing I'm not entirely sure, maybe someone else on RC knows.

The MegaFlow Overflow Kit is rated for 600GPH

Here's the link:

At that flow rate at a height of say 5 feet a Mag-Drive 9.5 looks like would be the pump that would best match that flow.

Mag-Drive has a chart for their pumps, as I'm sure other brands do for different heights which the pump must deliver water up to the tank.

Here's that link:
Mag Drive Pump Chart (http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumPage~PageAlias~powerheads_pumps_danner_mag_drive_supreme.html)

Eheim and QuietOne are also other brands that have been recommended to me, but I have no experience with them

They sound fine, a two inch drain should be more than enough. That's what I have on my 225 gallon tank. The return pipe may be big depending on what return pump your going to use, but on the bright side, it gives you room to upgrade if needed.
