how serious are the heat issues with this tank? is a chiller absolutely necessary? i just don't have the $250 or more for a chiller at the moment, but all the cool stuff on this tank makes it pretty attractive.

thoughts?

oh, and it looks like you can get more watts with a pc upgrade from nanotuners. for example, if i got the oceanic 29g, i could get the nanotuner hood upgrade and get 144 watts. that's double the MH. wouldn't that be better?

thanks for any help you can give.

I have had my NC HQI for about a month and the temp stays below 80, but the house is in the high 60's. I am sure it will be hotter in the summer. I have heard a fan blowing on the water in the back will cool a couple degrees. Up in Wisconsin I would think you would be OK.

am i wrong about the lighting though? would 144w of PCs be better than 70w of MH?

Is there a MH upgrade hood for the biocube?

there is one from nano tuners. but what i was really considering was between purchasing the JBJ 28 nanocube HQI or upgrading the lights on the oceanic biocube. the cost is about the same. i just figured that with the PC upgrade to the oceanic tank, you get twice the watts and i'm guessing the PCs run cooler than the HQI.
