Anybody have any information about these guys? I should probably research first then buy. Too guilty of the opposite. Very cool addition. He seems to be mostly content in my sump with no current to push him around. Unfortunately that is all I know about them. I have started to feed him "DT'S" and hoping for the best.:mixed:

It will need some light, too, I think. Can you post a picture?

They are photosynthetic and need some feeding. But i think their life span is short.

I suspect you have Cassiopea xamachana. Google will turn up some information.

It is a Cassiopea xamachana. Thank you Jonathan, its exactly what it is. I'm sorry I have lost my patience tonight to get a photo up. I have light on for my fuge he still seems to be content on the bottem with no current. Thanks guys for the reply's.

Well.. your jelly fish is most likely getting stuck in the pumps intake or in a corner somewhere. You need something called a jelliquarium to take care of jellyfish fully without having problems. They are photosynthetic and sting other corals/creatures in the tank.

Funny you should mention that. When I got him I had up top and they definately don't like any kind of current and he ended up going into my overflow. Thankfully I rescued him without harm and made a spot in the fuge. I thought about getting sucked into my pump or skimmer so I made a corner for him. I got him surrounded with thick live plants, a barriar from the pump and skimmer and he has so far just settled on the sand, pumping himself in one spot. Only creatures down there are a lot of white spiney starfish about the size of a nickle and some shrimp jumpy crawly things. I will check out jelliquarium, first I've heard of such a thing, and see what keeping jellyfish is about.

From what I understand jellyfish have a very short lifespan in the aquarium because they have a tendancy to get chewed up in a pump or something of that sort. There are special tanks made specially for keeping jellyfish. However I really dont see them having a place in a reef tank even though they are pretty cool.

oh yes water change. Funny how that can be a fortgetful part of the hobby, lol. I try to make a habit of about every 2 weeks. Thanks for the cool link, thats him. Mine is mostly more of a white and brown with some green tentacals. Today makes a week in my tank and so far so good!
