I had this problem only with one scolymia, but the standard procedure worked as well for cynarina, symphyllya and lobo (this looks like scolymia, but is brain-shaped and multi mouthed), for candycanes too.
- Peaceful place - no mechanical damage, like frequent moving or dropping down,
- good light, like 70W PC at 7", or direct sunlight from southern window (Canada, not Arizona),
- out of the strong stream to let it relax, as for any LPS,
- feed, when it's ready - from twice a week to every day,
- give it 4 months, but general viable look should improve fast. If declines - something should be changed.

half of year later

but this was in unsuitable conditions for 3 months, I was out of place for it.

Didn't worked for trachyphillia, though.
All were bought damaged, but recovered well - tough guys.

I've had scolymias near death...stung with flesh falling off....colors faded to almost white...this is the scoly now (I don't have a before picture)

The skeleton was sticking through the skin and everything
The colors still aren't where they used to be, but it's looking close to 100%
I gave it an iodine dip, took it farther out of the flow, and put in under the halides and it slowly got better. It did not like PC lighting at all.
It did so well that I got a friend for it.....
