Hi there. Just got the small ATB skimmer for my (I would consider) heavily stocked 90 gallon SPS tank.

Fish load consists of:
3+" Powder Brown Tang
3+" Hippo Tang
3+" Flagfin Angel
Coral Beauty
5 or 6 Chromis
4+" Wrasse
and one little fish with a big eyeball (cardinal I think)

I feed 2x/day a mixture of a few flakes/pellets. My sump has an auto top off so the level stays stable at approx 7", I haven't broke out my tape measure :)

What can I do to make sure I'm getting the most out of it?

Nice piece of equipment btw.. I like the quality and the ability to tear it completely down.

Thanks,
Chris

Congratulations
First lets get it in the sump leave the wedge pipe wide open for 1 day or when the bubbles are not stuck to the body any longer. Then you should start to adjust the foam head up. I usually start a little over where the neck and cup meets.
Thanks

OK its been running for about 5 days now, I set it up on Saturday. I work out of town m-f so when I get home tonight I will adjust it.

BTW I also run a filter sock if this may have an adverse effect on the skimmers performance..

Is the sock on the skimmer outlet?

The drain dumps into the filter sock which is in the sump. Basically the skimmer is skimming water that has been "pre-filtered" I was thinking this might decrease performance of the skimmer.

That is fine it will not decrease the performance of the skimmer

Well I work away from home m-f and I was not home for the last two weeks so I was unable to tune it. Ive spent some time this weekend adjusting it and I think I am getting MUCH better skim out of it. Definatley some BLACK skimmate. I think once I get this thing adjusted properly it will be a good investment.

I will keep you all posted and I'll post some pics of my skim after letting it run on a heavily stocked 90 for a week.
