I am going to plumb my sump in the basement and am not sure if I should drill the floor behind the tank.

Or if I should drill the floor directly through the bottom of the tank.

Its a store bought Perfecto stand with a plywood base so I am not sure if drilling the bottom will weaken the stand or not. Any ideas?

i would go behind the stand close to the wall .....that way if you ever need to move the tank our sale your house you can always just pop a vent register there to cover up the hole ...

plus you never know what you might want to keep under the stand ...

I am leaning toward that route. If I ever sell, I plan to plug the holes and carpet over if necessary.

If you need that space behind the tank for something else, CL? Then I would drill outside the stand. If you want the tank snug to the wall, then in the stand.
I have mine 1/2" away from the wall just to put power cords behind it. I drilled through my stand.

You will need to cut the carpet before you attempt to drill through it, otherwise the drill will cause a run in it. I simply took a utility knife and cut an X in the carpet slightly bigger than the hole I needed to drill. Peel back the carpet, drill your hole and run your pipe. If you ever remove the tank all you will need to do, is use carpet tape to repair the spot.
