Do you think it would be ok to have 5 fish in a 30 gallon tank? I really want to get a VERY small snowflake eel...It would be for a short time in the 30 gallon, like 8 months. If I dont get that I want something else...would 5 fish be too much for my 30?
I have 2 clowns, bi-color blenny, and a 6-line wrasse right now.
O...are marble sea stars hard to keep (Fromia spec)
Thank you...
Joshua :)

I'll get alot of heat for this, but i say no to the snowflake, but maybe another smaller fish.Just keep up with the water changes,& dont get anything that will get too big.
I have 14 fish in my 75.

I would be worried about the snow flake eating your fish. They can be pretty aggessive from what i have seen.

I would agree that the 30 is too small for a snowflake. As for the star fish, I don't know.
But, I have a 29g biocube, and have 5 fish in it with no problems. I have 2 Ocellaris, 2 chromis, 1 indigo dottyback.
It would really depend on what you wanted to add, but 5 is possible, although I don't think it's possible to get anymore than that. But, again, if it were a nano fish, like a Trima Goby, you could prob get 2 or so.
But, keep up with your water changes and good husbandry like blktang says.

I was just looking at them at www.liveaquaria.com in the collectors corner. They say they are a hardier star.

That depends on alot of things.
Skimming?Feeding,& bio-load.
I had a 29 before,& did 5g a week.I also had a huge skimmer,& a 20L sump.

Fromia's are a "hardy" star, but like all starfish they are finiky to temp,& SG swings.

That's a 10% weekly change, so I would say you're good, depending on bioload and filtration, as blktang mentioned already.
I personally change 5g per week in my 29. More out of easiness than anything else. It's just easier to mix a 5g bucket, for me anyway.
If your water levels are good when you're testing, and everything is thriving, then 3g per week should be oK
