I think I remember reading somewhere that xenia kinda filters out phosphates. If that's true, I was thinking about growing some in my refugium.

Does xenia filter out phosphates, or does it just thrive in dirty high phosphate water?

TIA

I have zero phosphates and my Xenia thrives! In fact, I probably fragged a bucket full this morning during my weekly water change out.

Xenia is known to consume nitrates and phosphates. They would be a nice addition to a refugium. I know plenty of people doing this.

Cool, thanks! I thought that's how it worked. The other nice thing is they don't require a lot of light. It's like it's meant to be grown in a refugium.
