About two weeks ago I noticed that my two purple firefish had little "hairs" poking out of them; I finally deducted that they were bristleworm hairs, as the fish sleep under a rock that has a number of bristleworms in it.

Today one of my firefish emerged from under a rock COVERED in bristleworm hairs! I have never seen or heard of anything like it, and will try and get a picture. Does anyone have experience with fish getting bristleworm bristles in them? Is there a protocol for when they get large amounts in them? Thanks!

WOW this is horrible! As I wrote that message, my other firefish emerged covered too!!! He didn't have any a few hours ago, and now has patches of them on him!

We sure the bristleworms engaged the attack....and not the other way around?

I've seen plenty of pictures throughout reefcentral of fish that thought the bristlworms looked tasty only to end with a faceful of bristlworm spines.
