I got a little piece that has like 10 zoos on it, how long before it covers the rock it's sitting on? Does it spread one by one?

depands on the type of zoa some growth quicker then others and how big the rock you want them to cover. 10 heads should go fairly quickly but flow and lights will have another big part in their growth as well.

Also have a branch of rock with 3 zoos on it, seems like a long time before it covers it right?

try to enjoy them for what they are, dont think about and focus on building up other parts of your tank.

when i do that it makes the growing go by a little faster hahaha.

I know, but I don't want to add too many things at once. Until I can build up other parts of the tank, I can only focus on what little I have :)
Just wondering how fast they are able to grow/spread.

depending on water parameters, lighting, circulation, feeding/dosing, and about a hundred other things it could take 2 days, maybe even 10 years... or you could cut the polyps up individually and glue them all over the rock, that might take 10-15 min. problem solved, rock covered.

On a serious note though, be patient, this isn't a model airplane you don't just glue it together and voila! For me, and i assume everyone else, it never ends, regardless whether that rock gets covered or not you will find something else to add, subtract, rearrange, so dont get too comfy with your setup.

There really isn't a set rate at which they grow, depending on all the circumstances i listed initially, it varies dramatically.
I have the exact same set up currently (tank, lights, roughly same circ.). A frag I received which had about 6 heads on it has about doubled in a month or so, it could potentially cover a rock your size within 4,5, maybe 6 months. This is only a guesstimation at best.

good luck.

be carefull what you wish for, they can and will take over the tank.i have to prune them off other rocks and the glass every month or 2

I do know that since adding vitamin C, some colonies that were growing kind of slow, have doubled in size.

Loivingdareef, Capture's reply is nothing short of the perfect answer to your question.

does spot feeding zoas help growth tremendously?

Thanks Mucho.

ILL, feeding may or may not help growth 'tremendously'. Some say it helps them and others claim it doesn't do a whole lot. Those who say it helps claim that its a big difference for them. On the other side, there is the fact that overfeeding can be detrimental to all inhabitants.

Trial and error. Hopefully, not too much error. try it.

Zoas don't seem to appreciate spot-feeding like palys do.
