With reasonable skimming and filtration how big of a tank would I need for this list of fish? Also it would be cube shape more wide than tall. Only 24" tall.

(2) Banded Shark
(1) Blue Spot stingray
(1) Panther Grouper
(1) Golden Puffer
(1) Volitan Lionfish
(1) Zebra Eel

i voted 400-500 becouse if it was in the shape of a cube it would have to have a greater number of gallons to still get a decent swimming length for the shark. like a 4X4 cube has alot of gallons but not length for the long sharks soo you would prob need around 8X8 or even larger:D
WOW i read that over and its hard to explain lol:rolleyes:

Well the reason i put cube because I realize that a shark needs a very wide/long tank, not tall. Maby a 4x4 4x6 or 4x8 would work.

I voted without looking at the stock list as well. But I don't really need to - Bigger is always better. :D

Seriously though, that isn't the best mix of fish you got listed. Blue spots have horrible records. I think 300gal+ is usually recommended for just a pair of banded sharks. I also wouldn't put a puffer or lionfish with a ray and sharks.

i voted 750+ because the bandeds will grow around 6 ft i believe and if it was me i would atleast double that length for adequate swimming room.

i voted for the 750 for the same reason. Thinking that you'll get the large tank when you need it is basically lying to yourself. It probably wont happen. You've gotta assume that the fish is going to grow really fast. i learned that the hard way years ago when i bought a pacu that was about the size of a dime when i bought him and when i gave it away .. a little over a year later... he was barely touching both sides of my 75 gallon (18" !!! ).... we used to feed it walnuts, cherrys, tomatoes, carrots, apple, basically anything fruit vegetable or nut. i wonder how big he is now... we miss that fish. If you really like sharks, get them a proper tank from the start.

I thought that the banded sharks only grew to 3 or 4 feet. Also the only "must" for me are:

2 banded shark
1 stingray doesnt have to be blue spotted
1 panther grouper

...if the lion and puffer are not recomended

you are correct the max size is around 4 feet. so i would go for at least 8 feet - 10 feet

so an 8'x8'x2'high tank is 957.5 gallons using the calculator on here

you need 750 gallons at least because of the sharks and the stingray if you took those away you could do less when you start building this tank let me know it will be awseome

Lol, you just wanted us to convince you that you needed a huge tank, didn't you? Like you needed convincing :) 750+

Really I (always) knew that it will be a short fat tank but as far as bioload, how much of the bioload will two 3.5 ft sharks take up? Just trying to get an idea if I had a 500 gallon tank how many more fish could the tank hold considering standard filter/skimming.

you would actually be suprised at how much Bio-Load sharks take up. Because they eat quite a bit they produce alot of waste - sort of like tangs except on a much larger scale
