View Full Version : cloudy water using skimmer

Ok I am not sure if something is wrong but I went out and bought a skimmer Bermuda ROgue HOb I have had it on for4 days now and I have amillion Micro bubbles all over ( I am told that is normal For how long?) And my water is cloudy. Before I used the skimmer my water was crystal clear no whats up.

The water probably isnt cloudy its probably just the microbubbles. You can try and make a bubble trap to reduce these. On the Coralife it is just a box with floss and black sponge. It works pretty well but if it is hang on back I think you will always have bubbles. You can elminate it all together if you can put it in your sump if you have one.

The filter floss that you get w/ canister filters. It is very inexpensive.

white pad ? If you mean that I just stuck it under the flow it stopped the bubbles

It may stop producing the micro bubbles after it has broken in. This may take a few weeks. You could try removing the skimmer and setting it up on a 10gal running it with a mix of white vinegar and water for several hours. This works to age the skimmer.
