hi guys, just bought an aquapod 8gallon biocube. im not a newbie to the salt water scene, about three years ago i had a 29 gallon, but it wasnt very successful. i am actually very impressed with the quality of the lighting of the tank, and overall. 32 watts of light in an 8 gallon tank for about 150 dollars, not bad.

started the tank off tonight. ten pounds of live sand, perfect salinity water, and patience. im waiting for the PH spike, then maybe friday getting about 6-7 pounds of liverock. ive completely forgotten what to expect and what to do in the process of starting the tank. anyone want to refresh me?

im excited to start this hobby again. expensive, but fun. once the tank is fully up and running, i have a few friends in this hobby, and theyll be giving me some pulsing xenia, hammer coral, and plenty of other frags. do you think id be okay with possibly a true perc and either a royal gramma, or (my dream fish) a mandarin that will eat brine shrimp.

PH spike? you will wait a long time for that lol. you will get ammonia spike though.

an 8 gal. tank I would stick with 1 fish and if you do get a mandrin that eats brine make sure it is newly hatched brine or it isn't nutrious for them after 24 hours thay are worthless.

but good luck.

I'd go with a small clown goby or chalk bass. Does the unit have a small skimmer on it? Maybe look into a nano skimmer.
