if i was to make a small tank with acrylic can i use regular aquarium silicone to put it together (as if it were glass)?

also what is the typical size hole drilled for overflows and input?

no. silicone will not work with acrylic.

to be a little more specific you need a Solvent that will actually bond the acrylic together. "Weld On" is the most popular it seems. Unfourtantly although HD and Lowes sells Acrylic they are not smart enough to carry the right glue for it...
