What exactly are the characteristics of Palythoa Grandis? How are they different then say regular paly's? And are they rare or special?

They are quite large & have a tye-died pattern on them. Short lashes on the skirt. Did you see the thread w/pics of them?

They grow to the size of a 1/2 dollar. They will readily eat prepared foods besided getting their food from lighting. some are brown, pale brown, tan, green or a mixture of brown/tan/green. etc..

What are the differences between a grandis and a regular big paly? I have seen some big paly's that aren't grandis. Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks for the links. I am trying to figure out my Neon Green palys are Grandis or not. From all the pictures, they definitely look like Grandis to me.
I believe you posted in my other thread you thought they were as well. Grandis are more rare I take it?

Not really, but not as collected I guess.

Dan, I have those exact same green button polyps--believe me, they are not Grandis, they are protopalys.

Ya think? It's just they really don't look like the ones you or engine have. They have much shorter tentacles, have little filled sacs in between the tentacles (look at the link you gave me to see what I mean) and are quite large.
I definitely want to get some Grandis then, they are really neat looking. haha

Mine to have the mini tentacles but I'm not sure about the sacs. When I posted them on that other zoa forum, they said button polyps--I was hoping for Nuclear Greens! You can always try there.

I see these look like yours (& mine):

but just because a store lables something doesn't mean that's what they are. I'm still not completely sure my yellow ones are Grandis either.

Those do look close to what I have, but they are labeled grandis. Is it possible that they actually are?
I picked up some new zoas today, a whooooole bunch. Check my threads to see pictures in the cmas section.

Haven't posted them yet. I am acclimating them now. Might not get pictures until tm. If they open tonight I will get them up. Bought 5 zoa rocks, nothing off the wall but all pretty cool looking. I got a rock of blues, not sure what kind of blues, but they seem blue.
