I am plumbing my new 300 tank and want to use Y valves and soft 90's to minimize back pressure on the return pump. The glue joint on these fittings is half of what a T fitting or regular 90 degree fitting would have. Should these be used just for the drain side of plumbing or can they be used in a pressure situation like plumbed to the return pump? Thanks Jeff

Even though you are using a strong pump, and moves a ton of water, the pressure isnt there. If you stick your thumb on the end of a garden hose, you cant stop the flow. Any pump for use in aquariums is easy to stop with your thumb.. I just got done plumbing a setup. I used a 2" drain and 1 1/2" return. The 2" fittings were recessed 1.5" while the 1.5" fittings were recessed 7/8". IMO as long as you have 1/2" of glue, it would be more than enough.
