SH Sump suggestions

When I first set-up my 90 SH tank. I didnt know about sumps. I have a perfect shelf under the tank and an empty 40 gallong long.
My dad gets lots of scrap plexiglass pieces from where he works.

I want to make a sump out of the 40 long.
I bought a really good overflow box.

I can pretty much design it any way I want .
Only live rock and seahorses in the tank and cleaner snails.

How would you do it?
Looks like sumps have dividers for different compartments.
I dont have a pump yet either.

I want to keep it sort of simple and as in-expensive as possible

I know how to put the plexi in for a refugium but i dont know about a sump.

the important thing would be setting the baffles so you don't get micro bubbles back into the display. There is so much debate about GBD and air bubbles from skimmers etc.
