I’m setting up the phosban reactor for the first time and have a question about amount of flow.
Found this video on the YouTube. Would you please let me know if it look right or is it too much?

Thanks.

what's in it? GFO?

what pump are you using?

if it is phosban--then the medium should be slightly heaving to allow maxium surface area for adsorption.

it is is carbon then you can crank the flow through it.

I've heard that if you crank the flow thru the carbon you can break it down??? I just switched back to a lower flow powerhead.

Is there any truth to this? If it's GFO vs regular carbon, does it make a difference?

I have honestly not heard of that before---but by crank I meant use more flow then through the phosban

Here is how I run mine separately:

2 separate mini jets opened about 1/2 the way for the phosban and fully for the carbon
so that would be 50and 100 gph respectively

Cool, thanks. I'm going to be adding a second reactor myself. I like the way you have it vs plumbing them inline together.

Thanks for the info.

OceanAV, sorry to hi-jack your thread.

by the way the tubing is half inch garden hose from home depot--its the only diy I had to do with these reactors LOL

I've used them for a couple of years and have used the Rio800 pump. I'd have to look but believe it runs 80 gls/hr. You do want to be careful that the flow isn't to fast that it breaks up the pellets as you do not want that getting into the tank. It can harm inverts and corals.

FYI, garden hose is one of the worst things to use in aquariums. Seriously!

Thanks all.
Looks like if I set up my reactore similar to one on video it should be OK.

The stuff they use to make garden hose out of leaches into your aquarium water. I don't even remember what all is in garden hose, but I wouldn't use it. Why use it when it's so easy to get vinyl, clear tubing???

If I could ever get the search function to work on here I'm sure you could research this.
