has anyone seen a blue polyp monti? If so, what color is the base? I just picked up a colony from a lfs and it was under pc's. It is brown at this point. I put it under my MH warlier and now it is showing signs of blue polyps.

But I've seen others with a brown base, and yet others with purple bases... So I guess its a wait and see kind of thing...

I have two blue-polyped monti's. One is a montipora peltiformis - which may turn from a brown base to a yellowish-green base. I also have the Tyree blue polyped whatever thingy-ma-jig.

Don't try to guess...it's just more fun to wait and see!!

I have what we believe is a M. Monasteriata. It's purple with blue polyps.

PSam, I found that moving my peltiformis up into more light, the whole base turned glowing yellowish-green. Really freaky pretty. The polyps also turned more blue.

So the consensus is these look best in lower light? I have one that's brownish beige with blue polyps in strong light. Less light will make that brown turn green?

I think they look waaay better in higher light. Going from brown with blue polyps to yellow with blue polyps was awesome (unless you like brown corals.)

so everyone seems to think higher light makes the base more green, eh?

I have a couple of these morphs. The higher you go towards your lights the more yellow it will turn IMO.
