I set up my turboflotor 1000 with the aquamedic 2700 NW this morning and I was wondering what I needed to do to break it in properly and what is the easiest way to adjust it once it is broken in?

Thanks in advance

Ryan,

You will need to start the water flow through the Turboflotor (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=8185&Nty=1&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=All&pc=1&N=0&Ntt=turboflotor&Np=1) and adjust the flow until the water rises to just below the top of the skimmer body. The outlet tubes should be about ¾ full. Then start the skimmer pump. The manufacturer recommends using the Oceanrunner (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=14677&Nty=1&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=All&N=2004&Ntt=ocean%20runner&Np=1) 3700 or the Rio (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=4671&Nty=1&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=All&N=2004&Ntt=rio&Np=1) 1700/2100 for this application. The skimmer may go through a break in period of 4-12 hours in which it will product too much foam or no foam at all. This is normal and will subside.

If you have further questions we will be happy to provide the manufacturer information for any further questions you may have regarding this skimmer.

Thanks for the response.

I purchased the OR 2500 when I ordered the skimmer because I thought that was what your website recommended.

Also, does this skimmer require a certain water height? I adjusted the skimmer this morning to produce a moderately wet skimmate, and this evening, its not foaming at all.

And mr last question, do you all sell seachems safe. Its the only dechlorinator I've used for the last year, and I dont want to switch.

reefkeeperfrodo,

Thank you for your questions. The water level on the Turboflotor 1000 should be just below the top of the skimmer. When this unit is producing no foam we suggest making sure the skimmer is getting enough water and that the airline is not clogged.

We apologize, unfortunately we do not sell Seachem Safe at this time.

Could you please PM me the manufacturer info. I'm having a problem getting it dialed in. I set the water level to just below the top of the skimmer, removed the silencer from the air line, and ended up with a collection cup of water. Is it normal to take up to 3 days to break in?

Ryan,

We have sent you a PM with the manufacturer contact information. The unit can produce too much foam or clear skimate during the initial break in period, after water changes, after additive additions, or if too much water flow is going through the system.

If you have placed new additions into the tank you will want to allow the skimmer to run. The skimmer will return to normal operation in 1-2 hours.

Check to make sure that the water level is just below the top of the skimmer body when the skimmer pump is shut off. If the water level is higher, reduce the water flow to the skimmer. As a last resort, a valve can be added to the air intake line to restrict the airflow. Adding an air valve to the airline will reduce the efficiency of the unit slightly.

If you have further questions please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for the manufacturere contact info.

After being on the phone witha very knowledgable person, I recieved a ton of help.

He came to the conclusion I should just let the skimmer run for a few days with all the valves wide open.

Thanks again for the help.
