Anyone have a recommendation for a 250w MH bulb for a tank that has a Magnifica, zoas, and frogspawn in it? Also thinking of adding xenia at some point, but that's about it.

Wow, just found this on page 2 and noticed no one answered.

I would be inclined to ask what is it that you want to achieve the most?

1. Good Coloration

2. Good Growth

3. Or a combination of the two?

4. Are you going to run actinics in conjunction with your halides or just for dusk to dawn affect?

5. What ballast are you going to fire them with?

6. Magnetic or Electronic?

7. Above all, PAR levels will greatly influence growth

Even with all of the above dialed in correctly, your tank conditions, parameters and tank maturity will also dictate what will happen once the lights are installed.

Below you'll find a great link to keep handy to help you with your choice of ballast and bulb combination/selection. Just input what you plan to use and see what your PAR readings will be.

I hope this helps.

PS, PAR is often referred to as PPFD - Photosynthetic Proton Flux Density, this is the colume to look at for your PAR readings after inputing your information I spoke of above.

Good info Mucho. I switched from Phoenix 14k's to ReefLux 12K's. I like the color of the Reeflux. It is perfect IMO. I can't comment on the growth yet as I just got them a week ago. Growth was great with the Poenix bulbs.
