I found about 7 of these on the bottom of the rock my new clove polyp came on. I am hoping that I got all of them but saw something fall from the rock when I added it to the tank. The second one is a crab the same color as the waving hand polyp. I can't seem to catch it, and it looks like it's eating the polyps. Any suggestions and does anyone know what type of snail and crab they are?

Found the snail ID in reef discussion from a member id'ing as Stomatella. Very ugly!

And caught the little crab. I doubt that it is reef safe & think it is what was causing the demise of this coral. Don't know if it will pull through, but at least the crab is gone. The little thing wasn't any bigger than a dime!

any chance of having a better pic of the crab?
Looks like a polyp eater for sps but not 100% sure

This is the only other clear picture that I have. I was able to catch the crab with a pair of tweezers, so it's no longer in there. It appears that it changes color to blend in.

I think that is a headsheild snail. From what I have read they are supposed to be good.

 But the question is, is it a good crab or a bad crab?

The little bugger has been alive for 3 days in a cup and I think I am going to quarantine it with what remains of the waving hand coral and the rock that it was one.

Unfortunately, I found what appears to be the molt of the same kind of crab in my tank the size of a pencil eraser. So, I should have quarantined!!!:( Hopefully things will be okay.

From what I can see in the cup, it has points for claws and not scoops, so I yanked it assuming it was bad. Not willing to take the risk!

They say if there is black tips on the end of the claws it might be a good idea take it out.
Not a crab killer but here but still.....
Some can pick at polyps and that is not a good thing to have in the tank.
