Hi, I'm seriously considering the RK2 but I'm a little confused about the max amps that the unit can handle. I'm running two 400 watt XM mogul MH on a non-digital ballast. I really don't know how many amps they draw. Anyone else running high watt lighting with the RK2? Will it handle it? Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, I can't get the search function to work.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Link (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1319623)

The handling capability is listed on our site as 6 amps per channel with a 15 amp total limit. This total limit is often overlooked by customers and WILL cause NON-Warranty damage if not followed!

Thanks for the link! So if I did my math right, it looks like each bulb pulls aprox 3.3 amps. So I should be fine? And to verify, I can have a max of 15 amps total plugged into the outlets?

Thanks again,

Scott

Yes a total of 15amps if you add up ALL outlets.

Note that some devices have what is called an inrush or start-up current that can exceed it's operational load. If you are running your system close to the limit that inrush over time can give you trouble so if you're close, be careful and you may want to add an Expansion Socket.
