i have a 375 gallon and in it a lionfish around 12 inches. now i want some cool little schooling fish, now if i got some chromis or anthias and they school, do u think the lionfish would just slowly eat one whenever it got hungry? or would their schooling instinct actually work against a predator? thanks guys

i tried a school of damsels, they were picked off right away and my lion is only about 5 inches. even if the schooling instinct worked they would probably be under alot of stress and anthias in general arent the hardiest of fish to begin with.

is there any good fish that would "school" or swim together in my tank, that wouldn't be lunch?

you could do a group of 3 yellow tangs dont know if they will school but it will look cool

how about a school of mexican lookdowns. I think they are quite nice and who doesnt like a flat shiny fish. or you could do a small school of wimplefish, they are attractive. Mind you, none of these fishes are small, but they are compatible with your lionfish. Is there anything ekse in the tank

If you could get decent sized ones, I'd go for a school of banner fish..... there are several types, but the "schooling banner fish" is obvisouly the most likely to school......

Heniochus diphreutes is the proper name for them.

Most tangs do nto actually "school" up in a home aquarium, unless you have 1000's of gallons and a couple of BIG fish to encourage them to do it.

The butterfly recommendation is of course assuming that your water quality is reasonable and you don't have anything "mean" that will bully them, like big triggers or nasty tangs.......

In a 375 gallon tank, I'd probably go for 5...... I am assumign the tank is 96"x30"x30". I am not sure how big they get...... I am guessing about 6"...... not quite as big as the common bannerfish I don't think.

Other options - how about a trio of Falcula Butterflies (Chaetodon falcula)?

It really depends on what you have got in the tank already?

Oh well, purely on the basis of the Passer I would take back that recommendation of any butterfly fish...... he'd probably murder them......
