i am wiring 2x96 watt cf straight pin do i need to hook up all 4 pin on bulb or just 2 the wiring diagaram show putting the 2 red wires from balast together be 4 you get to the bulb then do i need to split agin at the bulb

You must connect two reds wires from the ballast and then split them so both pins on the lamp get connected. The yellow must be split as well so both pins get connected.

It will work with only two pins (one red and one yellow wire) connected but this is a fire hazard and should never be done with any ballast. Having both pins connected assures even power across the lamp cathodes.
