Anyone have problems with the moonlight going out? After just one week the moonlights are out. I can say I don't use them much but...The unit was missing the cooling fan, Both fans make a screaming noise then start howling until my two dogs howl too... The filter bag supplied with the unit was the wrong size thus getting caught up in the power heads. Are all of you out there for sure satisfied with this $800.00 set up? I'm not to thrilled with the climbing on the chair every two days to rinse out the square white filter. I purchased a Fluval canister unit today but discovered there is no possible way to insert the suction line to the right of the skimmer instead of the crazy black block and white filter. Red Sea Max is out of all parts for the lights/fans. Why the hell do I have to take the light apart to perform this repair one week later. If I purchased a $25.00 fluorescent tube light from Pet Smart/Kmart they would honor the warranty especially after just one week. I work really hard during the day time as I'm sure you all do. Every night now I am fixing the broken $800.00 so called all in one. I had 200 gallon tanks in the 80's that was easier to maintain. Nobody else is having this problem?

Howie69:
The hoods are known for there problems.
I have gone though 3 different timers, 2 sets of fans (that still make noise at startup), and am on my second set of moonlights.
All I can tell you is to hang in there. The customer service has been excellent and has honored all replacement parts for me thus far.
I'm now at the point where my RSM is running very well.
Good luck

Howie - The hood lights & timers didn't used to be a problem, but have been the last couple months it seems. The fans have been noisy from day one I think. Mine used to sound like a plane taking off after I had the tank a few months. There's a removeable piece on the right side of the hood that may let you try to see if reseating the fans will cut the noise. I've never removed that piece but others have, and sometimes the fans just need to be reseated to get them to quiet down. Otherwise Red Sea typically sends quiter fans for free. It sounds like they're out of parts now. If you have to take the hood apart to replace the moonlights you may as well replace the fans at the same time. If you didn't get the rear cooling fan with the RSM it sounds like you may have gotten an older model without the recent upgrades by RSM? If you bark loud enough maybe RSM will just send you a replacement hood. RSM does just about anything to keep their customers happy.
