Thanks flyyguy. I was trying to find a substitute for mag. sulfate, the first thing that comes to mind was Epsom salt. Not sure if this is the same stuff?

Im honestly not sure. I buy my mag chloride and sulfate from them to make my own mag supp.

not sure about epsom salt or even how it differs if any from the sulfate part I buy from them........

I found some info on Wikipedia and it may be the same but I'll wait to make sure.
After all is said and done I think I'll be using bulkreefsupply.com
just to be on the safe side. Thanks again for the info.

Found this in the chemistry forum, everything you wanted to know about Magnesium sulfate/ Epsom salt.

Epson salt is Mag Sulfate. If you don't need much mag it is ok, but if you need to add much mag, it is not very good, you add way to much sulfate. Try to find some mag chloride (mag flag ice melt).

Depends on what you are trying to do. If you just want a mag sup. to increase your mag level I would use mag chloride, if you are making a 2 part solution, I would use Randy's recipe and I can't remember off of the top of my head what his recipe has in it.

I do and it uses both 5/3 ratio chloride to sulfate
