Uv on sps good or bad

I had a friend give me his 40 watt uv sterlizer when he broke his tank down. He had a fish only. was wondering if it was good or bad to run on a sps tank

good and bad
good because it makes water clearer and increases light penetration
bad because it can reduce dissolved organics and stuff that the coral can feed on.

if your water is not clear, you will have more benefits then negatives. use it.
if your water is clear already and you have no algae problem, you wont see much of a difference. you'll have just one more thing to plug in and bulb to change.
