I got the 4 LED module. I planned on putting a LED between each of my lumenarc reflectors across my 8'. The problem is the wires are too short. Is there any way to extend the wires between the light boxes?

Just by similar low voltage wiring and cut and splice. Wrap real good with electrcial tape. I've had a couple LED moon lights go out over the past year and simply just cut and spliced the wires from the old into the new, no problem. I think radio shack probably sells the extra wiring. Maybe somebody will know the exact wiring and it might be able to be had at HD or Lowe's?

I was hoping that I could just splice in new wires. I would solder and heat shrink everything. Just wondering if anyone else has had to extend the wires.

I have 2 tanks and a 5 LED unit. I asked Curt if I could extend the wires between 3&4 to reach the 2nd tank and he said it would be ok.

Derek, your plans should work fine.

I use these for low voltage wires.

Radio Shack has them. They are filled with silicone to be weatherproof.

We extended our wires by popping the back off the LED holder and soldering new wires direct to the resistor and LED. The backs were glued back on with hot glue. Works great...

So its been a while since I posted this but I have just got around to extending my wires and now my LEDs wont light up. I am not sure if I used the right type of wire or not.

I used Hook-up wire which was a single strand roll. It was 20 guage, stranded wire. Type AWM.

I clipped the existing wires in the middle between the LEDs. I cut 2 equal length strands off the role and soldered the connections. When I pluged the LED strand back in they no longer worked. I did not cut the wire between the LED plug in and the first light.

When I connected the first and second light I might have got the wire backwords. If that is the case would it cause all the lights to not work or would the first LED still work since it is the original wiring?

It's in series (if I'm using the correct term). When I cut the last 2 off the set, it wouldn't work. Then when I reattached the last 2 again, one way wouldn't work so try switching the wires.

I fixed it. I started cutting the last light off and connecting the wires to see where the problem was. Lucky for me it was the second to last. Fliped the wires and everything works fine.
