Between the Bubble Master 200 and the H&S 150-F2001?

Pros Cons?

These skimmers are the same in price, so I'm just looking for some performance justification to purchase one or the other.

Thanks!

I would go neither...I would go with a cone skimmer of sorts if you are going to spend that kind of money. Maybe an ATB small cone.

Cheapest ATB cone skimmer I see is 800, 200 more than these skimmers.

Thanks anyways

sorry, they also have a "nano" which is special order in the US. Send an email to victor as to what the specs are for the skimmer.

I would get the DAS ex-2.

The BM200 will draw more air than the A150. It is a shorter skimmer, can only be run insump and is probably better rated for a 180 (ish) system. The build quality is also lacking when compared to a skimmer like the H&S.

The A150 can be run insump or externally, is built like a tank but does not draw as much air as the BM. It also uses a pinwheel as opposed to the meshwheel that the BM uses. Even though this skimmer is still a little big for your 50 gallon ( I ran this exact same skimmer on my old 50 gallon reef), it is probably going to give you better results with that size system.

Of these two, for your tank, I would recommend the A150. Its built to handle your sized bioload better, and is more flexible. If your tank was around 125-200 gallons, I would say the BM200 would be the better fit.

Thanks Jim,

The tank is a 120, would the H&S be a bit small?

I don't know why I thought this would be for a 50...

I think that 120 is right around that skimmer's sweet spot. 75-120 (ish) gallons. I've seen people use this skimmer on a 180 and be okay, but really, it all personal preference.

Both are very powerful skimmers.

What will you stock? Is there extra water volume from a sump or fuge?

the H & S is the best skimmer I have ever used. I highly reccomend that brand.
