I'm looking to buy a used PM Bullet-3 protein skimmer. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this skimmer? The guy is looking to sell it for $250, no pump included. I'm looking to use it on a 400 gallon mixed reef tank. I'm wondering if I should just save my money and go with a larger skimmer since I'm interested in have some large Tangs.

I currently have a Aquac EV180 on my 200 gallon tank and it works well but I'd rather not have to use 2 skimmers on the 400 gallon tank. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

I would think you should be fine - if not you should be able to resell it for that price

make sure you run a good pump - check their site for recomendations, I think you will need a mag 24 or more

Awsome skimmer I run the bullet-2 on my 120 and could go much larger. The bullet-3 is a monster my buddy runs one on a large prop. tank I would say 500+ gallons and dose great.

Wow very nice setup. I'm thinking for the price I shouldn't pass it up. I agree, if it doesn't work out I should be able to sell it for what I paid for it.

Anyone else have any experience with the Bullet series skimmers?

I got the skimmer. It needed some cleaning but it looks good now. Now I just need a pump for it, I've been watching for a used one but haven't found one to my liking yet. User manual recommends the Pan World 200ps for best performance but I'm open to suggestions if you have had good results with another pump.

Once I get a pump I'll be setting the skimmer up on my 200 gallon tank and making sure it works fine and doesn't leak.

Just look for a good pump brand that has a pressure rated pump in the gph, and power consumption range that you like. I'm sure someone will have a good reccomendation.

I have the PM bullet 3. Definitely get a pressure rated pump. I'm using a Gen-X 40

How do you like the Gen-X 40? I was considering a Gen-X 55 because I found one used on a local message board.

I thought a Bullet-3 on a 200 was overkill, this skimmer on a 120 is really overkill. I've always read that you can't overskim and I believe it doesn't hurt to oversize your skimmer for your tank.
