I'm thinking about buying one...in particular, their 3C version for my 180g and will use a mag9.5 with it. Does anyone have any experience with with these skimmers?

For your 180 i would step up a bit as the 3c will be underpowered. The 5c would be a better fit or even one up from that one. They are very well built and easy to use and good performing skimmers.

yeah, i had concerns about the 3c...i was just trying to keep the cost down since i already had a mag9.5, which is underpowered for the 5c...oh well, thanks for your input

by the way, any idea how it compares to the ATI bubblemaster 200? that is my other option right now

Nope, never seen the two side by side. There much different types of skimmers and both are very nice. (5c and bm200) I'ts a tough decision to make if both were offered for free.

haha..tell me about it...thats what im faced with. ill let you know how it turns out
Are either one of these "set it and forget it" skimmers?
If not, are one of them closer to being that than the other?

I have a 5c on my 180 and this thing skims like a beast. I am pulling out about 1 qt to 1/2 gallon of "strong green tea" skimmate per day. My tank is not that heavily loaded, but I do tend to feed my tangs well. I am running my 5c w/ a Mag 12. I picked it up at Something Fishy (www.toofishy.com).
Hope this helps.

Never adjusted my Bermuda 3C after break in.

thats good to know..thats what i was lookin for. u think the 3c with a mag 9.5 would be too small for the same setup?
Id put a 5C on a 180. I think the 3C is too small. I know it's a good jump in price but it's money out the window if you have to buy twice.

think im going with the 5C...does anyone have any idea whether or not the mag9.5 will be alright? I know its rated for more, but that doesnt always mean everything

get the ATI the pump is so much more efficient that it will pay for itself in energy savings
I doubt that youll get the absolute most out of it but it should run the skimmer. I would plan for a stronger pump in the future. A good, pressure rated pump is the way to go in the future for the Bermudas.

I think that sounds good. Goin with the 5C, that way i wont have any buyers remorse and ill have the confidence thati have an adequate skimmer. the mag will have to work for a few weeks until i can go bigger

Yes I would say the 5c as well. I have a 3c on my 75 with a Rio 12HF and it has been an AMAZING skimmer so far!

I literally just ordered a 5C from one of their online vendors in PA. Hopefully, they have it in stock and i can set it up. I am goin to have to use my mag9.5 for a few weeks on it, which i know is underpowered, but i'd rather do that than settle for too small of a skimmer (its easier to upgrade/change the pump!!). thanks for everyones input, made it an easy choice

Order from Something Fishy? If so, good choice -- literally 3 blocks from my house and a GREAT place
