I picked up a pink carnation tree coral today from my LFS.

Any help to make sure it stays nice and healthy would be fantastic!

Very hard to keep. I recommend taking it back.

They are very hard to keep but I am gonna give this one a try.

The LFS that I bought it from would just end up killing it anyways.

I am going to spot feed it 15ml of DT's every 2days.

That is a scleronephthya. It is somewhat easier to care for than dendronepthya. It doesn't look so hot from the pic. I would get to target feeding it with cyclops eeze, prawn eggs, golden pearls, rotifers, or artemia nauplii quickly. At least try target feeding it daily (better twice daily), it might pull through.

Maybe I am in over my head on this one.

My LFS would probably take it back on exchange for another coral.

thats not dendronepthya..that is scleronephthya..like he said..''it has a more chance of surviving''..anyway..you think the LFS is going to feed it ?

Yeah those are tricky to judge. It is not healthy unless it is standing up well will some polyps extended.

I one I had seemed to look alright, but was slumped over. Sometimes kenya trees do this and come back after a few days.

In reality this coral was rotting from the inside. The outside color remained vibrant and polyps looked reasonably healthy but were not extended.

I may have fried it. The guy at Jacks said it needed MH. I later found out that it was non-photosynthetic and took it back for full credit.
