I never fragged one before and I need to frag it how do I do it ? Do I cut it with cutters into the size I want or does it break off like sps ?

I like to use a dremel. Makes cleaner cuts and the tissue at the margins survives better. I've tried a razor and hammer/chisel and a lot of the frags died because I crushed it more than cut it.

If it is just the plate, and not attached to a rock, that'll be fine.

I like to dremel the rock until i am close enough to the tissue of the coral, then use a set of shears to finish it off. The shears will give a cleaner cut giving it a better chance at survival. Remember to put it into an area with decent flow to help avoid any algae on the wound.

thanks everyone.

Air that was perfect. The third one down where you clipped sections all the way around the chalice is what im looking to do. Could I use scissors for that ?

that should work. I would use a razor knife to seperate the flaps afterwards.

Doesnt really matter. You just want to make as few cuts as possible to minimize the tissue damage while you are cutting.

And do not tear the flesh. Torn flesh is much more prone to infection or other issues later on. Neatly sliced flesh is much less likely to be a problem.

I use the same general methods when fragging those types of corals. If you use a dremel, you can cut a ring off and then frag the ring. This will allow you to have a nice circular mother colony. :)
