How long does a temp probe last?

I am on my third one over the course of the last 4 years. My best guess is that the one that I am currently using is 1.5 years old. My temp has started to fluctuate about .5 degrees over the course of a few seconds. I am hoping its the probe, but I am concerned its not since it is relatively new. Any thoughts?

Most temperature probes last many years. In some cases the temp probe does begin to fluctuate before it fails.
