anyone like these bulbs/dislike these bulbs? getting good growth? like the color? pictures would be great. I;m thinking about switching my xm10k's for something with a little bit more blue color.

I've used them before and they are great bulbs. I had good growth with them. They are not too blue. Do you run any actinic bulbs? If so the reeflux 10k's are nice to when they burn in. I'm using them now and the growth rate is really good.

not sure if I am going to run actinics, rather not to be honest. Just a little hue of blue would be fine with me. I;m used to the 10K XM's

If your not sure about the actinics then go with the 12k. I ran mine with 2 110w vho super actinic bulbs and the color was still nice. When I shut the actinics off the 12k bulbs still looked good.

i am also running magnetic ballasts if that makes any difference.

They may not fire and will not burn the same. They are best when used with electronic ballast and even more so, coralVue electronic ballast. You might want to look into Hamilton 14ks if you don't want to upgrade your ballasts.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but what colors do the reeflux 12k's tend to bring out the best? I know they have a spike at around 420nm so they should make blue corals pop, but are there any other colors they tend to enhance well?

This is the best representation of the 12ks color.

This tank is also the reason why I now run the Reeflux 12ks powered by CoralVue ballasts.

I use to have 12k but the 250 watt vs 400 are so different, my friend have the 400 and they look more like 20k but brighter, mine use to be more white with a hint of blue, my other friend her 12k look to my eyes like the 10k for some reason. I love the 400watt 12k
in m opinion
my 2 cents

The 250s and the 400s look the same to me when using the same brand reflector and ballast. The orientation of the reflux bulb makes a difference on the color. If the nipple is down the bulb will look blue, and if the nipple is up you will bet a whiter look without the yellow and makes the colors pop. What I consider a true 12k color.
