I have a 30 gal. cube that has been running for about 2 months with liverock. I bought aquacultured rock from Fla. and got it air cargo overnight. I put a 250 watt MH over the tank and using purple up, coral vital, and 10gal. water changes every day for 2 weeks the coraline algae, plants and what LPS survived exploded. Now I am ready to put my new 14K bulb in and slowly add more corals but I am not sure how to do it without shocking the stuff that is doing well. I want to have SPS and clams.

How about it all you lighting guys any help or suggestions?
well 14k has less par then 6500 so you will be fine and shouldnt burn anything. if anything you may have to lower the lights or run a long photo period to keep the same amount.

I think the par might depend on the bulb but you can run a reduces photo period to help acclimate the corals

Assuming that the 6500K bulb wasn't over a year old -- lost some of its par --- think you will be able to switch over to 14000K without any issues.
