Well with 4+million people out of power here in Florida I was just wondering what everyone uses for batteryback for a temperary power outage?

I am looking for a unit that will put out 200w for 6+ hours and will automatically switch on when the power turns off. I am not a DIYer so I am looking for the apc-ups units.

So... What do you use?

Thanks

I like Honda generators they are not nearly as loud as cheaper generators and I think a 2.5 gallon tank lasted almost 24 hours. I was running 2 tanks, TV, lights, fridge and heat.

Generators are the way to go. i have heard nothing but the best with Honda. Heard that subaru has one as well that is quite good.

I have a battery back-up that I got from Office Max for $150 and it is good for 8 hours with 2 Tunze Nano Stream plugged in, the box says it will keep 700 watts running for 132 minutes if you wanted to hook-up more to it and then I have a small generator in the garage for anything longer

Second the battery Backup..... its a cheap way, and it turns on automatically. Some times i come home from work and notice the clock lights flashing...run downstairs and my tank is fine.

I have a generator for big problems like Florida yesterday. I also have a number of battery powered air pumps for emergencies. Finally I have my return pump, tunze Streams and heater on a 1.5KVA UPS. Allows me to keep water moving and the heat working. Also is helpful with any power spikes you may get in thunderstorms, etc.

John

Just make sure the Battery Backup is a true sine wave one, other wise it will damage most power head in a long run.
