View Full Version : Bristleworm - should I worry?

Just found a small 3" bristleworm in my tank. Upon a quick Internet search....I remain confused.

Melev's site speaks positively of them, so I'm inclined to go with his experience. Any other opinions on this?

They are great until they get over 20-30 feet long, then small animals are at risk. lol


All kidding aside they are the single best part of your clean up crew. They tend to self populate, meaning you won't have more then the available food supply can sustain. They only eat dead things, do not hunt for live prey and can eliminate leftovers in short order. Be happy you have them, they are a good thing. Yes there are a couple bad varieties but they are very rare in aquaria. Enjoy them but please do not pet them.
