While not an electrician, I did stay at a.....
Anyways, I have a 2x65w coralife PC fixture that I use for actinic lighting. It had two individual ballasts and one appeared to be shorting out lately...some days it would fire the bulb some days it would not. So, I figured I would change the ballast(s). I found a 2x65w single ballast made for Orbit lights I believe and went to wire it this evening. I attached the white from the plug to the white of the ballast and the black of the plug to the black of the ballast. The ground from the plug I attached to the ballast case while attaching it to the 2x4 my lights are on. I attach one set of 4 wires to the cap on one of the bulbs to test....and get nothing. All four wires from the ballast test hot so the ballast is working. Any thoughts....not grounded properly?
