I have had an issue with red algae over the past few months and I can't figure out what the cause is. I know what causes it but I think I am overlooking something (or giving too much credit to my equipment).

I do not run ozone right now and would consider it if it would fix my problem. Curently my ORP is 320.

I have an ASM G4+ ran external with every mod (recirc, gate valve, mesh...) I skim wet and produce the amount shown in the pic (24 hr).

As for flow... I use a mag 18 wide open @ 5' for my return and I have (4) Hydor Koralia 4 pumps @ 1200gph

Thanks for your input.

The gold question is, have you had this problem the entire life of the tank?

If not, i would check the bulbs. Many times i take this algae as a sign to change my bulbs.....sure enough couple weeks later its gone.

Just changed my bulbs 2 months ago. RO/DI filters and resin last month. Someone even said that it was IO salt mix so I switched to Reef Crystals.

Not much skimmate for 24 hours.

What test kits are you using and what are the readings?

You might want to send a sample of your water to AWT f0r $30 to get a "lab" test done on your water.

I use Salifert test kits and my ORP reading is from my Milwakee controller, its new. Al my readings a within normal limits.
