Hi,
I have some things that look like mushrooms that are growing on one of my LR and i really would like to know what it is. It looks like a mushroom but a little bit like an anemone too. Can you help? Hope i'm posting this at the right place.
Thanks

There's about 7 or 8 of them.

They look like Red Carribean Mushrooms, and as they get larger will look very nice, with a rough texture in darker red than the base.

Definitely a Caribbean Red Mushroom, just look like youngsters. The ones I have are much larger, and darker in color, but have exactly the same pattern. I got mine with an order of Florida Ricordia that I recently purchased.

Ok thanks, that must be it. At the LFS they didn't know what is was and didn't seem to want to take care of them. So i bought the rock for a few bucks. There's at least 8 of them on the rock.
I'm happy :)
Thanks for the ID

I paid $6/polyp for full size, so you got a steal!

Yes it seems i got a very good deal and there's also a bright red sponge like thing growing on it too. Well if the people at the lfs don't even know what they've got in their tanks, too bad for them and good for me LOL Counted again and there's 10 of them.

no doubt. You can actually see what the adult size looks like on ebay, just search for:
Red Mushroom Polyp
There is a pretty good comparison to what mine looks like. I keep them fairly low in my 180, and they seem to be very happy, as they opened up fully in less than a day after placing them.

Haha great buy. Those will look awesome once they color up and get bigger.

Yes the color is so nice. It pretty much like the small ones i saw on eBay smallreefdave, only the color is different. It really is a bright fluorescent pink. I know one of the picture comes out like one is red but it's actually pink.More like the last picture. Maybe they will become red has they grow. Hope not. Anyway i'm glad i bought them. I'll have to get them used to stronger lights. They were on the bottom of a barely lit tank and almost covered by other rocks. Wish me luck :)
