I am thinking about setting up a fish only with live rock 75 gallon tank. I am going to get (or make) a sump. I am new to this thing ( though I used to have freshwater fish when I was younger). I was wondering if the Aqua C Urchin Pro with a mag 3 is a good protein skimmer? Or what would be a better skimmer. ( < $300).

I had one on my 75. I farted around with it for months and finally just got rid of it. I could never get it to skim anything but wet.

I ended up with an Octopus 150 recirculating skimmer and it is MUCH better.

I'd look at one of the Octopus in-sump models over the Urchin if you really want an in-sump skimmer.
